Powder Coating and
E-Coating for Metal Stampings
Winona Powder Coating is the powder coating choice for metal stamping manufacturers. Since 1974 Winona has served as the Midwest's high-volume, high-quality finisher, with decades of experience finishing stamped parts.
We partner with American stampers nationwide to deliver durable coatings that meet specifications, protect parts from corrosion, and ship on schedule.
A Reliable Finishing Partner for American Metal Stamping Companies
Stamped parts often move through fast, high-volume programs with tight deadlines. A dependable coating partner helps you keep those programs on track.
Winona offers powder coating, E-coating, and combined applications, along with quick turnaround, available capacity for high-volume automotive work, and on-site technical assistance.
Finishing Built Around Metal Stamping Programs
Stamped parts come in many shapes and sizes, from small brackets and clips to large panels and structural components. They may have sharp edges, tight bends, drawn features, holes, and nested geometry that can trap contaminants or create coating challenges. Racking, pretreatment, film thickness, and cure all affect the final result.
- Consistent, repeatable coverage across high-volume runs
- Coating on steel, aluminum, and other compatible metals
- Corrosion protection for indoor, outdoor, and automotive environments
- Coverage on edges, bends, holes, and formed features
- Custom masking for critical surfaces where required
- Color, gloss, and texture options for visible parts
- Quality documentation and certified processes
- Rapid turnaround when schedules are tight
Winona works with stampers to review material, part geometry, volume, corrosion requirements, appearance expectations, specification, and delivery schedule before production begins. Our goal is to make finishing one less thing to worry about.

Powder Coating for Stamped Parts
Our powder coating process is optimized to give stamped parts a tough, attractive finish that resists chipping, scratching, abrasion, moisture, UV, and chemicals. It also builds well on edges and corners, which are often vulnerable on stamped components.
- A durable protective finish
- Consistent appearance from run to run
- Protection during shipping, assembly, and service
- Specific colors, gloss levels, or textures
- Efficient processing at volume
- A low-VOC alternative to conventional liquid paint
Winona's powder coating lines are designed for high-quality, high-volume work, and we offer a wide range of colors and finish options. Powder coating is a strong fit for stamped parts that need:
Aluminum Stampings
Stamping aluminum? Winona operates a dedicated aluminum line in our Etna Green, Indiana plant, featuring a state-of-the-art pretreatment process optimized for aluminum composition.
Aluminum requires pretreatment designed for its specific surface characteristics. Proper preparation helps support adhesion, corrosion resistance, and long-term finish quality, particularly for parts used outdoors or in demanding environments.
E-Coat for Complete Corrosion Protection
E-coating deposits a uniform epoxy coating across conductive metal stamped parts. E-coat reaches recesses, tight corners, and complex formed features that can be difficult to cover with spray application, making it a good match for many stamped and welded assemblies.
- Uniform coverage with controlled film thickness
- Strong corrosion resistance
- Efficient processing for high-volume programs
- Coverage on complex or formed geometry
- A standalone functional finish
- A corrosion-resistant primer beneath powder coating
Winona's E-coat line includes a 13-stage pretreatment process with laser scale removal, zinc phosphate, and RO water. Automated indexing helps reduce air-pocket effects as parts enter the tank, supporting consistent coverage.
E-Coat Primer + Powder-Coated Topcoat
For stamped parts that face harsh environments, Winona can apply an E-coat primer with a powder-coated topcoat. The E-coat provides complete corrosion protection across the part, while the powder adds a durable exterior finish with color and abrasion resistance.
If the powder is chipped or scratched, the E-coat underneath continues to protect the metal from rust and chemical corrosion. This layered system is well suited to automotive, agricultural, construction, and outdoor applications.
