Winona's Aluminum-Only Finishing Line Gets Titanium Protection!

Aluminum is increasingly used in the automotive industry because it reduces weight and increases gas mileage. Winona’s aluminum-only AAMA-certified powder coating line features a superior new Henkel pre-treatment conversion coating process.

Stage 1 - Washer

Silicate free, low alkaline liquid cleaner designed for aluminum and its alloys for pre treatment processes. It can also be used for cleaning of steel, zinc, magnesium, cadmium, copper and its alloys.This product is applicable by spray process based on hydroxydes, salts of organic acids and nonionic surfactants.

Stage 3 - Washer

Chromium-free etch passivation product for aluminum. It is specially designed to stabilize electrical surface resistance and improve adhesive bonding, as well as paint adhesion and resistance to corrosion. It can be used in spray and spray/immersion processes and must be combined with a suitable cleaner.

The result:

• Cleaned and etched parts that promote superior powder adhesion.
• Protects parts pre-coating, and post-coating prevents “creepback” corrosion given any later in-field damage.
• Pretreatment chemistry approved by VW, Daimler, BMW, JLR, Volvo.
• The surface preparation is ideal for welded and adhesive bonding - even after being stored for extended periods.
• Most of the capacity (automotive, agricultural) for this process is for in-house production and not available to the outside customer.
